About Custom Writing Company
This is a professional, full-service writing company that specializes
in individual, family and business profiles. We also write obituaries*
and record oral histories. There is a multimedia component to the
service, so in addition to the words, we can create slide shows,
short movies and build websites.
It’s not easy writing about yourself, a family member, your
business—especially if you would like the result to be clear,
concise, clever and ready for publication and posting on the Internet.
Not everyone can, or likes to write. We, on the other hand, would
be honored to show and tell your story. It’s what we do best.
About Pam Abramson Grisman
I’m a reader, writer, researcher and editor. A boundless newshound,
that’s what I am, an inveterate journalist, a life-long curious
person. “She was interested in the world around her.” That’s
how I want to be remembered. Will they say that I am smart and funny?
Slightly self-effacing? That I play the piano (or at least try to)
that I love my son more than life itself? I hope so.
During my 14 years as a Correspondent for Newsweek Magazine, I covered
hundreds of stories—from the eruption of Mount St. Helens in
1980 through the oil spill in Valdez, Alaska in 1989. My favorite
assignments were always profiles. They were the most memorable. Will
I ever forget when Julia Child told me she used Betty Crocker Potato
Buds in her gnocchi? Or that astronaut Sally Ride has a double degree
from Stanford in English Lit and astrophysics. I often repeat a saying
that tennis star Martina Navratilova told me—one that her father
would tell her when she was a girl growing up in Czechoslovakia. “Do
you know the difference between involvement and commitment,” Martina
recalled. “Think of ham and eggs. The chicken is involved,
the pig is committed.”
I am a single mother, a friend, sister and volunteer. I’ve
been a profiler of the literary variety for over 30 years. People
profiles, business profiles, obituaries*. “She looked for meaning
in life, the secrets of success and words to live by, by looking
at the world through the eyes of other people.”
*I write obituaries under the alias, “the obituarian”.
